Is it possible to select your thoughts just like you select your clothes?
You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivates. I find this to be quite a profound statement. Imagine that - that you can select your thoughts the way you select your clothes each morning? It makes you realize how much power you have, really. And it's so true. There are a range of perspectives to look at any issue from, and it's really our choice which one we pick. Many times, we just tend to submit to the narrative we think fits us. If something bad happens to us, we think we should be sad, we should be mad, we should feel sorry for ourselves. We often don't quite realize that only we can decide how we actually want to internalize and respond to an event. Maybe something terrible did happen to you. But, is it making you better in the long-run? This is a lesson I'm still learning, but at such points we can make the decision to overcome weak thoughts and become powerful. Sometime
